DRY EYE RELIEF WITH ENVISION

Executive assistant, Katie Mathews visited the Lisa Franklin clinic to try out Inmode’s Envision, for dry eye treatment.

THE OBJECTIVE:

As a long time contact lens wearer, I had always suffered from dry eye, which was compounded by a spate of ulcers and because of this, I opted for lens replacement surgery two years ago. However, the dry eye continued to worsen.

I had been on the lookout for a long-lasting solution, so when I heard about the Envision treatment, I was keen to find out more. Dr Priya Udari is an oculoplastic surgeon and dry eye specialist, who is a passionate advocate for improving the quality of life for individuals with dry eye, so she felt like the perfect person to consult.

THE EXPERIENCE:

I visited Dr Priya at the Lisa Franklin clinic in Chelsea, London. The clinic itself was a beautiful and professional looking space, instantly making me feel that I was in safe hands.

Before I met with Dr Priya, a therapist carried out a facial scanning assessment to identify any areas of concern and sun/ pigmentation to the skin, which was passed on to Dr Priya to help her build a better and clearer picture of the problems I had.

Dr Priya spent a long time chatting with me about her background, and the treatment she would carry out, which really put me at ease. She explained how my age and an ongoing underactive thyroid condition were all contributing to the issue. Before starting the treatment, as part of the consultation process, Dr Priya took a closer look at my eyes. Interestingly, she identified an allergy issue, which may be contributing to my dry eye struggles.

To start, Dr Priya prepped and cleansed my skin, then carried out an IPL treatment to target some of the areas of pigmentation and sun damaged skin. She explained that this would not only improve the overall condition of my skin, but the appearance too, as it would help to stimulate collagen production and smooth out my fine lines.

Next, she used a small amount of ZocuFoam eyelid cleanser to gently cleanse my eyelids, ready for the heat treatment.

Using the Envision system, bipolar radiofrequency (Bipolar RF) gently heated my eyelids which in turn, softens the hardened oil in the glands around the eyelid. Once she had applied some gel to each eye, Dr Priya used the tool to gently work around each eye for around five minutes. The whole experience felt more like a spa treatment and was so relaxing from start to finish.

Once the treatment was finished, Dr Priya talked to me about aftercare. She kindly gifted me a Peep wand for me to use on my eyes every evening, which will help to keep the dry eye at bay, along with some hydrating eye drops.

In addition, I bought the Zocular ZocuFoam eyelid cleanser and Dr Priya prescribed some Ketofall drops to help with my allergy.

VERDICT:

There was an immediate improvement in my sight straight after the treatment, which was more than I could have hoped for. My eyesight seemed clearer, and my eyes felt hydrated and clear.

The added bonus of this has been that I think my fine lines are smoothed and my overall complexion has improved.

I’m looking forward to getting into a good routine with the Peep wand and hopefully improving the dry eye symptoms even more.
