High-tech facials: bespoke high-tech facial with Dr Motox

Contributing reporter Kezia Parkins visits one of Dr Motox’s clinics for a bespoke experience

THE LOWDOWN

I was booked into Dr Motox’s clinic on Duke Street for a bespoke facial with the lovely facialist Charlotte, who used many of my favourite technologies.

THE EXPERIENCE

After a thorough double cleanse with Medik8 products, it was clear from the way Charlotte used her hands that, despite planning on using a bunch of exciting technologies, Charlotte was a skilled beauty therapist. Just from the cleansing process, I felt more snatched and de-puffed, thanks to the massage elements she added.

Next, it was time for a little bit of Hydrafacial extraction. Charlotte focused on my t-zone, which is the most problematic and congested area, as well as my lower cheeks, where I suffer hormonal acne.

Then it was time for some Deese Pro Sculpta EMS – my favourite in-clinic handheld device I have tried. This little star is small but mighty, creating big stimuli to muscles – my face was contracting like crazy. After a little time lifting and toning one side of my face with the device, Charlotte conducted the pinch test, which allowed me to see how much tighter my face was on the treated side. Then, it was on to the next technology from Deesse Pro – the iconic LED light mask on the anti-ageing setting. After some time relaxing under the warmth of the mask, Charlotte got the Sculpta out again and swapped to the radiofrequency (RF) head, using it in an upward motion to add more lift while the RF was working.

The last technology used was microneedling with SkinPen. By this point, I was so relaxed that I could have fallen asleep during this step, showing how painless this microneedling device was. Charlotte kept the needling very superficial, only going in up to 1mm while using Medik8 hyaluronic acid to add hydration. To calm my skin, a super cooling sheet mask was applied before the finishing products.

THE VERDICT

I absolutely loved this facial, not only for the number of wonderful technologies included but also because of Charlotte’s skilled touch, which added so much to the facial by way of sculpting, lymphatic drainage and depuffing. Tech without that touch just wouldn’t be as valuable, but combined, they enhance each other beautifully. The variety and quality of the technologies were unmatched and Charlotte’s selection for the combination was spot on – I walked out of the clinic with glowing glass skin.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

Having a bespoke facial option on your menu is super important. The ability to add or remove technologies or products based on the client and their skin not only improves outcomes but can make the client feel more looked after than having a one-size-fits-all facial forced on them.
