From servicing to sales

Beautology director John Isaac discusses the company’s growth, its commitment to quality service and its recent expansion into laser distribution

Aesthetic Medicine (AM): Can you tell us a bit about Beautology and how the company started?

John Isaac (JI): I began working with lasers in 2001, initially providing third-party servicing before spending five years at Cynosure. In 2012, we founded Beautology with the goal of delivering superior service at a more competitive cost.

What started as a home-based operation soon grew into a small office in Bedford. Our team has rapidly grown, hence the need to move into our bespoke new facility in Cambridgeshire.

The company initially focused on independently servicing and supporting systems from many world class manufacturers. We soon expanded into refurbishing and reselling pre-owned equipment. Due to customer demand the next evolutionary step naturally led us to distributing systems from industry leading brands such as Quanta System, Bison Medical and AMI.

Our mission is to offer industry leading, top-end equipment at realistic prices, ensuring our clients receive the best value and service in the industry.

AM: What makes Beautology different from other laser servicing, sales, and distribution companies?

JI: We are a family-owned business. We are free from corporate restrictions, allowing us to provide a personal, empathetic, customer-focussed approach. What truly sets us apart is the quality value and commitment to service and long-term customer relationships.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the medical laser industry, we’ve built a team of industry veterans, many with decades of expertise in engineering, clinical applications, and sales. We believe no other company in the UK can offer the same level of knowledge, support, and hands-on experience.

AM: How do you ensure minimal downtime for clinics relying on their equipment?

JI: We have a team engineers strategically located across the UK, enabling us to respond swiftly to service calls. Additionally, we maintain a substantial stock of parts, allowing us to carry out most repairs and maintenance quickly, thus minimising downtime and eliminating long wait times for our clients.

AM: How often should clinics service their aesthetic laser equipment, and why is regular maintenance important?

JI: Most high-power laser devices should be serviced every six months to ensure optimal performance. Regular maintenance helps prevent dust buildup and replacement of flash lamps, and keeps optics clean. Without proper servicing, unexpected breakdowns can turn out to be costly, causing treatment disruptions and forcing clients to reschedule. Delaying servicing may seem like a short-term cost-saving measure, but it can be a false economy, often resulting in costly breakdowns and repairs.

AM: What cost savings can clinics expect when using Beautology versus manufacturer maintenance?

JI: We offer more affordable service rates than major manufacturers. Coupled with lower part costs, significant savings can be made. For additional peace of mind, we offer bespoke service agreements tailored to different machines and clinic needs. Our options range from ad-hoc servicing, labour-only agreements to fully inclusive packages. Unlike many manufacturers, we include flash lamps in our service agreements, as we consider them an essential part of the system.

AM: Do you offer tailored service agreements?

JI: Yes, we provide bespoke service agreements tailored to different machines and clinic needs. Options range from labour-only agreements to fully inclusive packages. Unlike many manufacturers, we include flash lamps in our service agreements as we consider them integral to the system.

AM: What’s next for Beautology?

JI: We are showcasing our amazing range of laser and RF microneedling systems at exhibitions. We’re relocating to a larger facility to support our continued growth. Additionally, we’re in discussions with other distributors, which could soon expand our range of aesthetic equipment even further. We look forward to making further announcements in the near future.
