AM GLASGOW
We round up what went on at the first-ever AM Glasgow event at the SEC
Aesthetic Medicine hosted its f irst-ever exhibition and conference in Scotland. AM Glasgow took place on Saturday, June 8, at the SEC Glasgow. A total of 472 people attended the intimate inaugural show, which featured a range of industry-leading aesthetics brands, three different education programmes and a whole host of networking opportunities, with the aim to bring the best in aesthetics to Scotland.
The education programmes included the Clinical Masterclasses sponsored by RELIFE, Neauvia and Revanesse, the Business Seminars in association with Success in Aesthetic Business (SIAB), sponsored by Asclepion, Hamilton Fraser and RELIFE and the Live Demo Stage.
At the medic only Clinical Masterclasses visitors could hear from speakers, including Claudia McGloin, who discussed PRP and threads in the Regenerative Medicine Masterclass and the risk of patients with HIV transmitting Infections during PRP procedures in the Complications, Training and Regulation Masterclass.
McGloin said, “I thoroughly enjoyed my two sessions. It was a full house – standing room only – for the complications workshop. I think that was probably the best session. We could’ve talked all day on all things complications. I am just so delighted to have been a part of the inaugural Scottish event. I saw that a lot of the delegates were as excited to have AM in Scotland as I was three years ago when it came to Dublin.”
Dr Lauren Jamieson was the chair for the Complications, Training and Regulation Masterclass and also discussed her approach to combination treatments in the Combination Treatments Masterclass. Dr Jamieson said, “This morning at Aesthetic Medicine Glasgow, I’ve had the privilege of chairing a phenomenal session on complications, training and regulation, all really exciting and very important areas in aesthetic medicine. There was incredible energy in the room, the sessions were so well attended, and the delegates were really so engaged in these sessions and everything else that’s going on in aesthetics.
“This event has already proven to be a huge success, and it’s a delight to see something of this calibre in Scotland. As a clinician I’ve had an awesome time, and I think my key takeaway is that regulation in Scotland is an absolutely key factor in how we’re going to be practising moving forward.”
Vanessa Bird spoke on becoming a KOL and a step-by-step business opportunity audit to grow your business as part of the Business Seminars. She said, “I was really excited to come and speak at the first Aesthetic Medicine Glasgow. I remember years ago covering this region when I was a rep, and everybody was so down-to-earth, so experienced and really passionate about aesthetics. I just knew that if they were coming to this kind of event in Scotland, then it would be phenomenal, and it has been. I think this is going to be a super popular show; I really think it will rival London. It’s a great addition to the Aesthetic Medicine events portfolio.”
BRANDS AT AESTHETIC MEDICINE GLASGOW
As well as educational opportunities at the show, we were pleased to be joined by over 20 different leading aesthetics brands including Neauvia, Opatra, SkinCeuticals, CellDerma, Skymedic, Aesthetics Solutions, BTL, RELIFE, Ivy Aesthetic Training Academy and Hamilton Fraser. These brands were available to meet on the show floor and visitors enjoyed testing products first hand.
At the Live Demo Stage, we were joined by Neauvia, Energy Medical Technologies, Dermapenworld, Cutera, and SkinCeuticals. These brands provided visitors with informative talks from KOLs and brand leaders to help them make an informed purchasing decision. These demonstrations included a Neauvia Zaffiro demonstration from Dr Lisa Dinley, plus Dr Steven Land and Nicola Russell’s approach to enhancing skin radiance with IPL and Laser Genesis.
Katrina Tootell, general manager for Neauvia UK, commented, “We decided to exhibit because it was the first show in Glasgow, and we really wanted to reach out to the Scottish market. We are relatively new in the UK, and the Scottish market is an area we see massive growth in.”
Andrew Hansford, who is a trainer for Dermapenworld UK, said, “It’s been great. There’s been some really good people willing to talk and listen and get information. Scotland has some incredible practitioners who have to spend a lot of their time travelling to other parts of the UK. Now, it’s actually here for them, and I think that’s why there has been such a buzz. You would never know it was the first one. I am really impressed. Roll on the future.”
Nicola Bowtell, healthcare account executive at Hamilton Fraser, commented, “It’s so great Aesthetic Medicine has come to Glasgow. We wanted to exhibit to meet new clients, see existing clients and keep up with the industry trends.”
Samantha Gibbons, key account manager, RELIFE, added, “This is the first AM event in Scotland, and for us, it’s about educating healthcare practitioners in the industry. It’s been amazing for us here. We have met some great healthcare professionals, some who have been practising for a long time in aesthetics, as well as some up-and-coming people coming into the industry.”
Aesthetic Medicine Glasgow will be returning to SEC Glasgow on 1-2 June 2025.
