Treatment review: Saypha Lips

THE LOWDOWN

Saypha Lips with Lidocaine is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler specifically developed for lip enhancement. The inclusion of Lidocaine provides a numbing effect, ensuring a more comfortable treatment experience for patients.

THE EXPERIENCE

Until recently, I was always anti-lip filler, having seen some of the over-filled lips out there! However, a lovely aesthetic doctor had mentioned to me that I should get them done as they looked a little ‘tired’ so that was enough for me to research into how I could make them look more hydrated and kissable in time for my wedding later in the year! As we age, our lips naturally thin due to decreased collagen and elastin, leading to a decline in volume and then shape. This causes more visible lines around the mouth because the lips produce less oil and the natural pigment fades to add to that. While being lucky enough to have good lips for most of my life, I could see that, when applying my lipstick, lines had started to form. So, when Croma brought out its new Saypha Lips, I desperately wanted to try it! Now I just had to find the right injector.

Working in the industry gives us access to some of the best injectors around and Croma introduced me to KOL Alexandra Mills at AM Aesthetics.

AM Aesthetics is a leading independent medical aesthetic clinic in the UK with outstanding reviews. Mills told me that she has done very little marketing to build her business and it has organically grown by ‘word of mouth’. Founded, alongside her husband Professor Syed Haq, the couple now have three clinics in Chelsea, Marylebone and Harley Street, plus one in Belfast too!

On meeting Mills, I felt I was in good hands. She is committed to providing patients with the most natural results and explained the treatment every step of the way all with a great Irish accent! After going through my medical history to ensure suitability (if you suffer with cold sores, you need to be administered with a prophylactic) and taking time to ask about my concerns, I completely relaxed. I explained that my goal was to have a treatment that would go ‘unnoticed’ and she assured me this would be the case as my lips were a good pair to work with being naturally quite full but just lacking hydration. After sneakily taking a few pictures of my lips whilst I was talking she explained that this would give her a good idea of how much to inject – she applied some numbing cream.

After half an hour, I was ready to go. Using Croma’s 30 guage needle, the injection points were relatively painless with the help of the cream and Mill’s skills; I felt nothing but a tiny scratch. She explained that she never injects the borders of the lips as this can give you that ‘Russian Lip’ look so she only really treats the mid mid tubercles, giving the most natural appearance. A quick massage of the lips and that was it, the whole process taking around 45 mins and using only 0.5ml of Saypha Lips.

Alex also gave me a 10-day supply of Skinade in tablet and soluble form to aid my recovery and assist with any bruising or swelling, although I had none! It also extends the life of fillers and tastes amazing!

For the aftercare advice, I was advised to keep the area clean with no touching, kissing or wearing of lipstick for at least 24 hours and that any swelling should normalise in the next week or so.

THE VERDICT

I cannot express how happy I am with my new, slightly volumised lips. I’ve realised how filler can look so natural and barely detectable with the right product and injector. No one has noticed, which was my goal, so thanks to Mills and Croma for restoring my confidence in how a good lip can be achieved!

The results should last for around nine to 12 months with good aftercare, but I will be back!
