Dear readers

Welcome to the June issue of Aesthetic Medicine - This month, we spotlight diversity, inclusion, and identity in all its forms, with a particular focus on our LGBTQIA+ community. The world of aesthetic medicine is evolving, and rightly so, to be more inclusive, more aware, and more representative of the wide spectrum of people we serve. Our June issue is a celebration of this and an invitation to keep moving forward. We’re proud to bring you thoughtful, practical features exploring how our industry can better support trans and non-binary patients (see Dr Steven Land’s piece on non-surgical gender-affirming treatments on p32 and Erin Leybourne’s deep dive into clinic inclusion on p52). Nurse Sophie Brooks also shares her experience running a queer and neurodivergent-friendly practice in Manchester (p37), reminding us that representation and understanding can go hand in hand with excellent clinical care.

Of course, June also means Pride, a time of celebration, but also reflection. Language, culture, and care standards are constantly evolving, and Eddie Hooker’s piece on page 42 challenges us to think critically about the words used in practice and marketing.

I also want to reflect on Aesthetic Medicine London in May. From packed-out sessions to buzzing exhibition floors, it was a true testament to the vibrancy and passion of our sector (flip to page 19 for highlights). And of course, congratulations are in order for our AM Awards winners – those leading the way and setting the bar higher year after year (see the full list on page 22).

This issue is about recognising that aesthetic medicine isn’t just about the outside – it’s deeply connected to identity, confidence, and wellbeing. As clinicians, business owners, and educators, the sector has an incredible responsibility and opportunity to make every patient feel seen, safe, and celebrated.

Happy Pride Month, and as always, thank you for reading!

Warm regards,
