Results without side effects

How do we overcome the challenges of high-strength acids within skincare to ensure we deliver effective results without side effects?

We require a high concentration of active ingredients with a low pH when formulating high-strength therapeutic cosmeceuticals to achieve impressive results and maximise the benefits of AHA and BHA acids. The problem with this combination is that it activates the Type C nociceptor (nerve receptors) within the skin, sending an electric signal to the brain, causing you to feel the typical side effects of itching, burning, redness and more (neurogenic inflammation).

There is nothing new with the ingredients used in cosmetics, and it is factual that all cosmetic companies use the same acids – and when all acids are applied to the skin, they create side effects.

To date, there have been only two ways to overcome these side effects of itching, burning, redness and inflammation: lowering the acid concentration to a minimal level or adding buffers to the solution and increasing the pH. By actioning either of these, we are doing the exact opposite of what we have already discussed is required for the delivery of impressive results in skincare. We end up with less active products and fewer results to maintain patient comfort.

SO HOW DO WE OVERCOME THIS ISSUE?

Dermshield™ Technology by Noon Aesthetics selectively suppresses tingling, burning, and itching, without the sense of local anaesthesia in the treated area. It suppresses erythema and oedema of the skin, prevents neurogenic inflammation, and suppresses the formation of cytokines responsible for the initiation of inflammation – atechnological achievement.

Dermshield™ is not a buffer but a compound that permits treatment with a high concentration of acids with no discomfort and the ability to return to everyday life immediately after treatment. This unique and patented compound

provides the ability to administer active acids for the treatment and delivery of impressive results for Acne, Rosacea, Pigmentation, Seborrhoea, Skin Aging and more without the typical aftermath active acids provide. Dermshield technology does not affect the skin’s ph or change the product’s formulation.

HOW DOES DERMSHIELD™ WORK?

The Type C Nociceptors are edges of nerves that detect changes in our skin. When the skin detects a change or chemical stressor on the skin, the Type C nociceptors expand and widen, releasing neuropeptides which signal an electrical impulse to the brain, activating the stinging, burning sensation. If prolonged, it activates the blood vessel to release plasma causing erythema on the skin surface redness,

Neuropeptides then activate the muscles to release a histamine that creates the itchiness feeling. All of this activity is known as neurogenic inflammation – the stronger the agent, the stronger the sensation that is felt. Dermshield™ technology has the ability to communicate with these receptors and inhibits the binding to the receptors. The result is that the brain gets a blurred response, and whilst minimal sensation can sometimes be felt, the neurogenic inflammation is reduced by 95%, which is pretty amazing.
