Beyond hair removal

Founder and owner of LaserHQ, Helen Quayle, shares her journey in laser hair removal - from starting her business, to introducing Sinclair’s Primelase, and expanding her services.

How did you begin your career in laser hair removal?

“Around nine years ago, I wanted laser hair removal, and every service I found was either very expensive or suspiciously cheap. So, I thought, why not create an affordable and reliable brand? I have been the owner of Laser HQ for eight and a half years, and it’s amazing, I love feeling like I am changing people’s lives.”

“I started my business in the back of a salon. Fast forward eight years, we have multiple clinics and are going to be expanding further. Exciting things are coming soon...”

Why is laser hair removal so profitable?

“When you first start, the machines can seem quite expensive. However, the treatment itself is fast, because you only need to go over the area once or twice, so there is a big turnover of clients coming in daily, and returning for optimal results.”

“This means there’s a consistency of clients coming in for a top-up, every six to eight weeks, to get the desired results. Therefore, for approximately eight to 12 months, you will have the same clients coming in for further treatments. This cycle of quick treatments and returning clients makes laser hair removal a profitable service.”

What are the benefits of using a multi-use machine such as Primelase?

“So we originally invested in the Elysion Pro machine, which provides amazing results, but we wanted to extend our services. We chose to invest in Primelase for its multi-use functions. We particularly focus on this aspect in marketing because we have a large client base primarily coming in for hair removal. Whilst they’re in the clinic, it is simple to change the head and perform another service in the same session.”

“It’s a great opportunity for upselling and allows your staff to earn more money. Whilst ensuring great customer service, we can recommend other incredible treatments. We educate our clients about the machine and the services that we offer and a lot then follow up asking questions, and then they become interested in further treatments.”

“The ‘blend head’ has opened up so many opportunities; it is great for providing results for darker skin tones, so now we can provide a safe and reliable treatment for everyone.”

How did you decide to choose Sinclair as a brand to work with?

“Sinclair has been the most amazing company to work with. Not only do they have the most cutting-edge technology, but they also have an incredible support system. When you have your own business, your machine is also a staff member, so you need that support system around to ensure that the machine is up to scratch and reliable.

The brand wants your business to grow, and they support you through that process. From advice for a client’s treatment plan to introducing us to a new technology.”

What have the results been like with the Primelase for pigmentation, vascular lesions, and acne?

“The results are just amazing. Expanding our services was quite new to us. It has been great having Sinclair helping us with the technology and staff training. I did my mum’s leg the other day and the thread vein just disappeared in front of our eyes.

“The blend head also allows you to treat patients with follicular acne…”

What do you think will be the key aesthetic trends moving forward?

“I think pigmentation removal is going to be huge - clients want to reverse any skin damage and get that glow…

“Plus, clients are gaining more interest in skin health, meaning more are investing in skincare and looking for a fresh start.”
