HIGH-TECH FACIALS: PLADUO FACIAL

Contributing reporter Kezia Parkins visits Dr Preema Clinic to try the new dual plasma device

THE LOWDOWN

The PlaDuo is a plasma device that uses two gases – nitrogen and argon – for advanced skin treatments and rejuvenation.

Nitrogen plasma targets anti-ageing, skin tightening, wrinkles, pigmentation, and melasma by creating micro-trauma to the skin to stimulate fibroblasts to create collagen, while argon plasma is specifically effective against acne and helps reduce sebum production. It also helps with wound healing, psoriasis and dermatitis.

THE EXPERIENCE

I arrived at the beautiful Dr Preema clinic for the PlaDuo launch event where I was greeted by the brand’s team. After a thorough cleanse and consultation, the brand’s clinical trainer Rebecca Jones decided to adjust the device to ‘Argon Mode’ as my hormonal acne was up to its usual tricks. Argon energy penetrates the skin, lowering inflammation, killing bacteria and shrinking sebaceous glands. The device also emits nitrogen plasma gas in Argon Mode but in lower levels and vice versa. The treatment itself feels like a blast of air is being blown onto the skin and the aftereffects are surprisingly tingly. The PlaDuo machine’s patented ‘Spin-Shot’ technology allows practitioners to tailor the energy delivery based on the patient’s skin with levels up to 15. Practitioners can choose between low-energy treatments with no downtime and high-energy delayed ablative treatments for those looking for more dramatic results. This flexibility allows clinics to cater to both the cautious patient and those seeking intensive skin transformation.

THE VERDICT

Right after the treatment my skin was glowing vibrantly with a ‘glass skin’ shine, but in the following days, I started to develop some patches that looked a bit like windburn. My skin also felt very tight almost as if I had just had a peel. After this stage, I did experience a bit of shedding and peeling but my skin looked incredible and textureless a few days after.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

Having both nitrogen and argon mode means the PlaDuo is truly customisable, plus can be combined with treatments like microneedling. This flexibility means that clinics can cater to both the cautious client and those seeking a dramatic skin transformation.
