THE BENEFITS OF SYNTHETIC EXOSOMES

Dr Brendan Khong explains how adding exosomes has benefited his practice

The aesthetic industry has seen a revolution with the introduction of exosomes and polynucleotides. In my practice, this has further provided me with another tool when designing plans for my patients as I am known for being skin quality focussed, opting to get the skin to the best possible condition.

Exosomes are little extracellular vesicles that have a lipid bilayer membrane that can transport and deliver molecules such as messenger RNA (mRNA), proteins, amino acids and other bioactive substances. Exosomes can be used in nanomedicine for delivering drugs or biological material to target cells.1 However, natural exosomes face several different difficulties when trying to deliver the material to their target cells, such as rapid degradation and other biological barriers.2 The advantage of having synthetic exosomes, seen in Promoitalia’s V-Tech Serum, is that the exosomal contents are protected from enzymatic attack, which will help to maintain the effective concentration. Synthetic exosomes can also help to ensure that the release of the exosomal contents is near the receptor structure on the target cells and thus, have greater receptor stimulation. Synthetic exosomes minimise the risk of an allergic reaction as there is very low possibility of antigen transfer or trans-membrane protein when compared to human, animal or vegetable derived exosomes.

Polynucleotides have been shown to stimulate the production of collagen 1A1 and 3A1 in vitro, improve cell number in human fibroblast culture, enhance wound healing and also stimulate the proliferation of a range of cell types (adipocytes, osteoblasts, endothelial cells, glial cells and keratinocytes).3,4 Polynucleotides can also mitigate free radical damage and hydrate the deeper layers of the skin to promote brightness and firmness to the skin.

V-Tech Serum consists of 20 mg/ml of polynucleotides, synthetic exosomes, biomimetic peptides (oligopeptide 20 and acetyl decapeptide3 ) and plant stem cells. This combination can help to speed up wound healing, stimulate skin repair, reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles and help to stimulate collagen and elastin production. In my clinical practice, I can produce tangible and long-lasting results for my patients with minimal downtime. I deliver V-Tech via a microneedling device which has very minimal downtime and this can be used for any area of concern. From the face to the neck, chest and hands, I have seen a great improvement in skin quality after four to six sessions, about two to three weeks apart. The convenience of having a ready-to-use product that consists of these bioactive ingredients makes It a joy and easy to use. V-Tech serum also does not have any special storage or transport requirements, which makes it much more convenient.
