Happy New Year and welcome to the January wellness issue of Aesthetic Medicine!
We hope you had a fabulous festive period and feel refreshed and ready to tackle whatever 2023 has in store. It’s been non-stop over at AM HQ – I’ve been out and about to so many wonderful events, my head is spinning! I’ve loved meeting the industry in person and look forward to making more new friends at launches, workshops, conferences, and parties in 2023. We are now getting the wheels in motion for the Aesthetic Medicine Awards – entries close on January 20, so you still have time to get your applications in. I can’t wait to work with the amazing panel of judges we have assembled to evaluate your submissions and find out more about the great work of those at the forefront of our sector.
We are also introducing issue themes – this month, we are focussing on one of the biggest sector trends of the decade, wellness. The post-pandemic world has seen a shift in consumer demand for well-being, resulting in the aesthetic sector becoming intertwined with spa and pampering treatments. Consultant editor Vicky Eldridge does a deep dive into the growing global wellness market, which treatments are available and the benefits to mental health. In this issue, we speak to the ‘fairy godmother of Cheshire’ Katie Alex about breaking the taboo around vaginal treatments (p56-57), look at the importance of aesthetic hands (p50-51) and consider whether it is time to rethink skin testing (p30-32). We also introduce a new columnist, Dr Usman Qureshi aka DrQ, (p24-25) who will be answering your clinical questions – so drop us a line with your pressing clinical queries.
