BACN Spring Symposium
Royal Society of Medicine, Wimpole Street
On April 21, the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN)’s most advanced nurse practitioners came together to deepen their medical aesthetics knowledge at the sold-out day-long Spring Symposium. Sessions covered several topics including injection strategies, the use of vitamins, managing complications with ultrasound, and the psychology of aesthetics and wellness in the medical aesthetic arena.
Wigmore Medical Presents
Royal College of Physicians, London
The Royal College of Physicians played host to Wigmore Presents on April 29-30. The two-day event, organised by Wigmore Medical, featured a wide range of sessions covering fillers, toxins, threads, skin boosters, energy-based devices, combination treatments, and future trends. One of the highlights was the ZO symposium, where delegates got to hear from the world-renowned dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi. Dr Manav Bawa, Alex Bugg from Web Marketing Clinic, Dr Steven Land and Dr Raj Thethi (pictured) also spoke about starting in aesthetics, getting social media essentials covered and how to grow a successful clinic. Other industry trailblazers who flew in for the event included Dr Tim Flynn, a pioneer in nonsurgical facial aesthetics who is universally acknowledged as one of the world’s best injectors of toxins and fillers. A networking event was also held at Madame Tussauds with a festival-style theme alongside the waxwork stars.
PCA Skin launch

Editor Anna Dobbie attended the launch of PCA Skin’s new Vitamin B3 Eye Cream on April 20. Networking over healthy breakfast canapes and goji berry smoothies was followed by an introduction to PCA Skin and the news of the exciting launch from brand manager, Lizzie Shaw.Attendees then heard from consultant ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeon Dr Elizabeth Hawkes about a range of eye health topics such as the ageing process, dark circles, and the importance of vitamins in keeping the eyes healthy. Following the presentation, there was a 30-minute eye-focused yoga class hosted by breath-work instructor Jess Parkinson, which consisted of varied eye movements and exercises to strengthen and condition the eyes, as well as teaching us why focusing on our eyes can help to down-regulate the nervous system and connect us to our body’s relaxation response.
Body Beautiful
Hydrafacial flagship store, Portman Square
Hydrafacial and Emerald Laser hosted a Body Beautiful event on April 20 where Aesthetic Medicine editor Anna Dobbie had a chance to chat to Dr Medispa chief medical officer and founder Dr Munir Somji, about how the latest innovative body protocols work in harmony for skin-deep sculpting and holistic wellness results. She was then taken to Hydrafacial’s VIP suite and treated to a combined back treatment with Hydrabody followed by Emerald Laser — read more about her treatment on page 73.
Oxygenetix launch
Urban Retreat, Hans Crescent
To celebrate the launch of Oxygenetix’s Oxygenating Concealer, Professional Beauty’s Lollie Hancock and Ellen Cummings attended a make-up masterclass on April 26, hosted by make-up artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis. After being introduced to the brand, Nguyen-Grealis shared why its foundation has been a staple in her kit for years, and that the new launch has already secured a spot. The team then tested the range, guided by Nguyen-Grealis and her assistant, Yong-Chin Breslin, who were on hand to give application tips and tricks for the best results from the products.
