WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER ISSUE OF AESTHETIC MEDICINE

Here we are at the end of a year we should probably never talk about again. Despite the challenges, hardships and twists and turns, I’ve been amazed and immensely proud of how our aesthetic practitioners, clinics and brands have rallied and bounced back. In this issue, we share several of these stories of success, as well as some important lessons to take into next year and beyond. On pages 21-23, aesthetic nurse Michelle Worthington tells us how she took herself from “safe” NHS job at the beginning of the year to fulltime aesthetic practitioner with a growing waiting list, solid business and connections that led her to become an accredited trainer and partner with another local clinic by the end of the year. If you want to know how to add another revenue stream to your clinic in case of future lockdowns, read Dr Nina Bal’s advice on retailing skincare on pages 26-27. And pay attention to what Alan Adams has to say about preparing a business plan for 2021 (pages 14-15) – we hope next year is a better one, but as we’ve learned, it may not go to plan.
