REGENERATION BEYOND THE SURFACE

Dr Nima Mahmoodi speaks to Aesthetic Medicine about Remedi London’s integrative ethos, why he’s backing exosome technology and how the future of aesthetics lies in treating the skin and the self

As aesthetic medicine moves toward regeneration, not just rejuvenation, clinics like Remedi London are leading the way. Founded by Dr Nima Mahmoodi, a dentist turned aesthetic practitioner and wellness innovator, the London-based space offers a blend of science, spirituality and energy healing.

Remedi is also one of the first clinics to offer Dermalogica Pro’s new Exo Booster, a professional-grade treatment that harnesses the power of exosome technology. We sat down with Dr Mahmoodi to learn how this regenerative innovation fits into his vision for next-gen skin health, and why he believes the future of aesthetics lies in treating the skin at a cellular level while also supporting emotional wellbeing.

AM: Remedi is built on a holistic philosophy. How does that shape the way you deliver treatments?

NM: At Remedi, we don’t just treat the skin, we treat the whole person. We recognise that the skin is a reflection of what’s happening internally: hormonally, emotionally, energetically. So, every aesthetic treatment is underpinned by that awareness. We might support the skin externally with advanced science, but we’re always thinking about how to nourish the body, calm the nervous system and restore balance at the root.

AM: What inspired you to create a space that goes beyond conventional aesthetics?

NM: It was born from a personal shift. After years in clinical aesthetics, I realised many people were seeking more than just external change – they wanted to feel better in themselves. I had a profound psychedelic experience that changed the course of my life. It made me re-evaluate how I wanted to contribute. Remedi became my answer to that – a space where transformation could happen on every level: physical, emotional, spiritual.

AM: You also incorporate Reiki and sound therapy into treatments. How does that impact the client experience?

NM: We see treatments as rituals, not just routines. Reiki, sound therapy, breathwork – these aren’t add-ons, they’re part of the experience. They help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is crucial for real healing and repair at the cellular level. When someone lies down for a facial or an IV drip, they’re also dropping into a space where their body can truly rest and reset.

AM: You’ve recently introduced Dermalogica Pro’s Exo Booster to your treatment menu. What drew you to this particular exosome treatment?

NM: What drew me in was the integrity of the formulation and the science behind it. Dermalogica’s Exo Booster uses bacterially derived exosomes from a plant source in a way that’s safe, highly effective and backed by clinical research. It felt like a perfect fit for Remedi – a treatment that merges cutting-edge innovation with a clean, ethical approach.

AM: In your opinion, what sets exosomes apart from other regenerative technologies?

NM: Exosomes are like nature’s own messengers. They don’t just stimulate the skin; they communicate with cells to regenerate in a much more intelligent, targeted way. They can trigger healing, reduce inflammation and even reverse some signs of damage. That level of bioactivity is a real breakthrough in how we support the skin from a regenerative perspective.

AM: How are you using Exo Booster within your existing treatment protocols?

NM: It’s incredibly versatile. We’ve been pairing it with microneedling, LED therapy and even after energy-based treatments like RF or ultrasound. But it also shines as a standalone facial when someone wants fast recovery and glow. Because of its regenerative properties, it supports both immediate radiance and long-term skin resilience.

AM: What kind of results have you seen so far in clinic?

NM: The feedback has been amazing. Clients report smoother texture, reduced redness and that “plump glow” that’s hard to fake. What’s more interesting is how quickly the skin calms down after more invasive treatments – less downtime, faster healing. That’s been a game-changer for us.

AM: How do you explain exosome technology to clients who may be curious but cautious?

NM: I always say: think of exosomes like WhatsApp messages between your cells. They tell your skin what to do – whether to heal, hydrate, regenerate. When applied topically, they help restore communication in skin that’s been overwhelmed or damaged. And because Dermalogica’s Exo Booster uses a bacteria-derived source, it’s safe and biocompatible, which helps put people at ease.

AM: What gives you confidence in Dermalogica’s approach specifically?

NM: Dermalogica’s track record speaks for itself – they’ve always taken the science seriously, without compromising on safety or integrity. With Exo Booster, they’ve kept the formulation clean and powerful, avoiding unnecessary fillers or synthetic fragrances. They’ve combined the exosomes with pro-resolution technology like omega-3 and bacillus ferment to strengthen the skin, plus peptides and phospholipids to increase firmness. That balance of clinical efficacy and ethical formulation really aligned with our Remedi values.

AM: Your clinic leans heavily into regenerative skin health. How does exosome technology support that mission?

NM: Exosomes work exactly where we focus – at the cellular level. They help regulate inflammation, repair DNA damage and signal for regeneration. That’s aligned with our philosophy: not just quick fixes, but sustainable cellular health that supports skin longevity over time. And as we know, everything to do with the ageing process starts at the cells.

AM: Beyond Exo Booster, what else are you exploring in regenerative aesthetics?

NM: We’re leaning heavily into polynucleotides, light therapies and IV skin drips, alongside emotional support practices like hypnotherapy, breathwork, quantum healing and nervous system rebalancing. Clients today want more than just good skin. They want to feel grounded, resilient and confident from the inside out. We’re here to meet that need holistically.

AM: Do you see exosomes becoming a core part of clinical skincare in the future?

NM: Without a doubt. We’re only scratching the surface of what exosomes can do. I see them becoming as essential as hyaluronic acid or peptides once were, only with more intelligence and precision. As regulation and research catch up, I think we’ll see them move even further into both aesthetics and medical dermatology.

AM: What advice would you give to other professionals looking to offer more regenerative, client-centred care?

NM: Start with intention. Understand why you want to offer these services. Educate yourself, but more importantly, listen – to your patients, your intuition, and the evolving needs of this world. Regenerative aesthetics isn’t a trend; it’s a return to remembering that the body heals when we support it on every level.
