The princess and the PRP
WHICH POLYNUCLEOTIDES SHOULD I USE FOR DIFFERENT AREAS?
There are a few brands of polynucleotides on the market. The most commonly used in the UK and Ireland are Nucleofill, Ameela, PhilArt, Plinest and Phlenage. Some are derived from salmon and others from trout. Most of these brands have a polynucleotide product designed for specific treatment areas such as eyes, hair, face and intimate areas.
A couple of these products have added in hyaluronic acid (HA). The consistency and amount of mg/ml will be different in each product. Make sure you pick the correct product for the area that you are treating. Do your research and ask the companies for details on their products along with clinical data with before and afters. Make sure you go with a product that is CE-marked.
CAN I COMBINE PRP AND POLYNUCLEOTIDES?
You can combine platelet rich plasma (PRP) and polynucleotides in your treatment plan but I would not use both of these together in the same syringe. There are protocols that I have developed and used which are proving to be beneficial for the patient. This will depend on the areas you are treating. Both are amazing treatments on their own but, in combination, they are a powerhouse.
HOW DO I PICK THE RIGHT CENTRIFUGE?
Firstly, not all centrifuges are the same and secondly, not all PRP kits are the same. You should ideally have a centrifuge and kit from the same manufacturer or company to ensure that both are compatible to achieve the best quality and results. There are different size collection tubes and not all of these will fit into each centrifuge or give you the relevant amount or quality of PRP once spun.
Each centrifuge will come with a different price point but please don’t be put off by this. The centrifuge is an important part of the treatment and cheaper does not mean better! Don’t be tempted to purchase one from online sites such as AliExpress, eBay or Amazon. Any centrifuge purchased should, of course, be CE marked and/or FDA approved. Other factors to consider are the settings of the centrifuge: is it set to a certain speed and time, or can it be adapted. Different PRP devices will require different RPM and times so, you need to ensure that you have compatible kits.
My advice is to have a look at the different centrifuges and kits available and contact the companies to get clinical data and research on their devices. What you also need to look for is a good company that will offer you product training and ongoing support. It’s important to also have an understanding of the basic principles of centrifugation.
