IMCAS WORLD CONGRESS 2023
Palais de Congrès, Paris
Aesthetic
Medicine editor Anna Dobbie and account manager Peter Bishop attended the 24th edition of the International Master Course on Aging Science (IMCAS) congress, showcasing the newest evidence-based techniques and developments from global thought leaders in the fields of dermatology, plastic surgery, and ageing science.
The live anatomy and cadaver workshop and IMCAS surgery courses with side-by-side procedures and anatomy dissection allowed an insight into the techniques of sector experts. Medical delegates could also attend pathological sessions in clinical dermatology, courses on practice management, patient ethics, hair restoration, gender-inclusive treatments, cosmeceuticals, ultrasonography, and more.
The event saw the launch of FACE by Galderma, an augmented reality aesthetic visualisation application that simulates the results of 19 injectable treatments in real-time using digital facial assessment, which are displayed as dynamic “before and after” images, as well as advanced wrinkle detection programme.
Allergan Aesthetics unveiled its immersive experience ‘Discover your 360’, a customer-centric approach to provide products and technologies to help the aesthetic needs of practitioners and patients today and for the future.
Evolus head of research and development Rui Avelar, M.D. presented interim findings from a phase two study, evaluating the safety, efficacy, and duration of effect for its ‘extra-strength’ dose of its flagship neurotoxin, Jeuveau.
At the 6th IMCAS global market summit, international start-ups present their innovations to a jury of experts at the Innovations Tank. The conference culminated in an awards ceremony where Swiss biotech Fastox Pharma won Innovation of the Year for its ground-breaking long-acting strength toxin technology.
MENOPAUSE IN AESTHETICS (MIA)
The Waldorf Hotel, London
MiA’s sell-out first event focused on the synergy between menopause and aesthetics. More than 270 practitioners from a broad spectrum of specialities were united by one common aim – to better serve women on their journey through menopause.
Speakers including Dr Shirin Lakhani, Dr Mayoni Gooneratne, Dr Yusra Al-Muhktar and Dr Sophie Shotter covered everything from hormones and skin changes to hair loss and weight gain, with discussion around referral pathways, collaborative working, and regulation.
The event was run by Aesthetic Associates, a company founded by Charlotte Body, and with a team including Aesthetic Medicine consultant editor Vicky Eldridge, Chloe Gronow and Danny Large, who collectively have more than five decades of experience organising events in the aesthetics space.
“We were blown away with the response to our first Menopause in Aesthetics event,” said Body. “We have had such amazing feedback from delegates, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors alike, proving that menopause truly is one of the key issues of our time.
“Through our own experience working in the sector, we truly believe aesthetic practitioners have a key role to play in supporting women on their journey through menopause, and we are proud to have facilitated discussion around this important issue.
“Our next venture will be bringing this to the public with the launch of our consumer-facing event – Pause – taking place on June 10 at The Grand Connaught Rooms, London.”
Dr Lakhani, intimate health specialist and founder of Elite Aesthetics, who chaired the day alongside Dr Gooneratne, founder of Human Health and vice president of the British College of Functional Medicine, said, “I have been passionate about women’s health and have successfully integrated it into my aesthetic practice. It was incredible to see how well this event was received, and the feedback from those in attendance has been phenomenal. It shows how as medical practitioners, we are realising the impact we can have on our patients’ lives by having a holistic approach to age management.”

OTONIXO LIFE PRESS DAY
Sadaf Jaffari, Oakley Street London
On February 3, editor Anna Dobbie trialled Otonixo Life’s ‘world’s first wellness IV drip’ which uses Allotopic Aqueous Solution (AAS) Oxygen therapy combined with vitamins to boost immunity.
With the help of a translator, Dr Barco explained how a liquid AAS at a fixed concentration of superoxide ion rapidly renews the cells in the body and activates the mitochondrion in the cell using oxygen. Combining the liquid AAS with a vitamin drip enhances the ingredients, enabling the body to absorb them more rapidly, making them more potent.
The process, which took around fifteen minutes and is tailored to meet the patient’s specific requirements, is designed to be repeated weekly, with sessions starting at around £250.
