THE LOWDOWN

The Seoul Glow Facial is a new 10-step Korean-inspired treatment, aimed at achieving ‘glass skin’, a trend for skin so clear, dewy, and smooth that it’s as reflective and flawless as glass.

THE EXPERIENCE

The first step was a deep cleanse to remove impurities and excess oil followed by an amazing lymphatic drainage massage performed by the wonderful therapist Spirithoula Koukoufikis to boost circulation and remove any fluid buildup in my face.

Next, the ubiquitous Hydrafacial really cleaned out my pores, before a tingly enzyme peel was applied, to further rid my skin of any dead cells, promoting a smoother texture and skin tone.

After this, Koukouf ikis meticulously performed manual extractions, especially on my lower cheeks where I get hormonal acne and my nose where I get blackheads. As I have had a lot of microneedling, I didn’t feel like the next numbing cream step was necessary, so Koukouf ikis moved straight on to use the SkinPen device, which creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing response, by producing new collagen, elastin, and skin cells.

Once the face was needled and the micro-channels opened, an impressive ionic balancing formula containing 55 repairing ingredients was applied over my face. Filorga NCTF (New Cellular Treatment Factor), nicknamed ‘The Chanel’, is a collagen-stimulating treatment that is injected into the skin via microneedling or needle injection. It aims to brighten and hydrate the skin while tightening pores, improving firmness and reducing the signs of ageing.

It contains pure and highly concentrated hyaluronic acid, organic silicium and a poly-vitamin cocktail that re-densifies the skin and reduces fine lines. It also includes amino acids, vitamin B1, B3, B5, and pure hyaluronic acid, holding a thousand times its weight in water. The treatment is intended for the face (including the eye area), neck, décolleté area, back of the hands, and arms.

Next, a soothing and deeply hydrating sheet face mask was applied, along with icy cold cryo rollers massaged across the face, which relaxed and calmed my skin after the microneedling.

Finally, my skin was treated to some LED light therapy for further anti-ageing and to soothe the skin, shorten downtime and stimulate cellular activity.

THE VERDICT

I loved this facial. The number of science-y steps and Koukoufikis’ technique made the experience feel luxurious, and the mystique around ‘The Chanel’ injection only added to this. Did I achieve the elusive ‘glass skin’? Pretty close, but the skin texture is normal, despite what TikTok would make you think…

Right after the treatment, I had an immediate glow which stuck around for the rest of the week. This would be an excellent treatment for clients preparing for a special day or a big event.
