NORTHERN SOUL
Aesthetic Medicine North returned to Manchester Central on September 24-25, 2023, bringing together the biggest names in the aesthetics sector to demonstrate the latest products and share knowledge and expertise.
This year, AM North ran alongside the Professional Beauty North show.
“It was great to see the industry connect at AM North,” said Aesthetic Medicine managing director Mark Moloney. “We saw a steady rise in visitors from previous years, with 1,193 attendees for AM North, and 10,674 attendees total combined with Professional Beauty North over the two days. It was particularly pleasing to see over 250 doctors, proving our new medic-only clinical area, which was new for 2023, a success.”
AM North is the only trade exhibition and conference for aesthetic medical professionals in the North of the country.
“I think that a lot of events for beauty are very southern-based,” said Justine Stevens, Hydrafacial regional sales director for the North. “The North is really leading the trends on a lot of aesthetic treatments, and for us at Hydrafacial, I think we’ve got a very good client base, and good business partnership, so, I think we need to be seen wherever our business is.”
NETWORKING AND INTERACTION
As always, AM North provided a wealth of opportunities for people to chat and arrange meetings to talk to peers and brands that they want to work with.
Clinical sponsor Neauvia loved having the opportunity to interact with customers in person. Darren Wood, Neauvia’s senior marketing manager said the event offered “the chance to really interact, and see the products in action, to understand what they can bring, not just from a financial point of view, but a customer value point of view.” He added “You can’t do that over the phone, you can’t do that reading a digital brochure. You need to interact, and you get to contrast and compare with all the other brands here, so it’s a brilliant opportunity, and it’s been very busy.”
WOMEN IN AESTHETIC MEDICINE
At AM North, the Women in Aesthetic Medicine (WiAM) group launched the WiAM podcast. To mark the occasion, editor Anna Dobbie invited a group of industry women to record an episode on-site at Manchester Central. The group included founding members Amy Bird, Tracey Dennison and Vicky Eldridge and guest Cheryl Barton. They discussed the group itself, some of their own experiences as women in the sector, the recent news about sexual harassment in surgery, and also had an important conversation about safeguarding in the aesthetics sector.
AM NORTH CLINICAL
For the first time this year, AM North used a new format for its clinical agenda. There was a separate area, in the Cobden Suite, that housed the Injectables Masterclasses and a host of clinical brands for delegates to meet. Many of these brands were used in the live injectable demonstrations, giving the medics a chance to see products in action.
The agenda covered topics such as injection techniques, enhancing safety in treatment outcomes, and trending treatment polynucleotides. Tracey Dennison, consultant nurse practitioner for East Riding Aesthetics, chaired a session on polynucleotides, and said it was an “absolute pleasure” to talk about an area that really excited her, alongside “amazing speakers.”
Dr Raj Thethi, an aesthetic doctor at the Yorkshire Skin Centre, was a speaker and demonstrator for the injectables masterclasses and expressed his excitement for the event: “Really exciting. Lots of friends, lots of colleagues, lots of people to meet!”
Nurse practitioner Amy Bird observed how much there was for medics to do at the show, commenting that the clinical agenda was “jam-packed”.
AM North will be returning to Manchester Central on September 29-30, 2024.
