TREATMENT REVIEW: NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY

Editor Anna Dobbie visits Dr Motox to improve the contour of her nose

THE LOWDOWN

The non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as the "liquid nose job" or "15-minute nose job",involves using dermal fillers to change the shape of the nose temporarily, typically lasting six to nine months. It is a great option for individuals looking to address bumps or angles in their nose, without committing to a permanent solution or dealing with the risks and recovery time of a traditional rhinoplasty surgery.

THE EXPERIENCE

When I was a teenager, a friend made an offhand comment about my ‘pointy’ nose and, twenty years later, her words have stayed with me. Enter Dr Mo Hamed (aka Dr Motox). He is renowned for his work with noses, and, with over 4000 cases under his belt, the ‘Dr Motox technique’ has earned him a reputation for achieving excellent results.

Following a thorough consultation, he explained how he would use hyaluronic acid-based filler to improve the contour of my nose, by lifting the small bump and the top of the nose. I was initially hesitant about adding filler as I was worried it would make it look bigger. Still, Dr Hamed assured me that, when injected correctly, filler can make the nose appear smaller by creating light highlights.

Using around 0.2ml of filler and a 30-gauge needle, he injected extremely small amounts of filler at each marked-up point, reducing the risk of complications and leading to minimal swelling and bruising. The procedure was very quick and almost painless (partially helped by Dr Hamed handing me a pair of spikey balls to squeeze while I was being injected, which kept me distracted).

THE VERDICT

I was impressed by Dr Hamed's attention to safety and his expertise in performing this procedure. The results are expected to last up to nine months, but with repeated treatments, the filler can last even longer. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is not something to be taken lightly, and I highly recommend seeing a skilled professional like Dr Hamed for anyone considering this treatment. I have to say, I love my new nose. The difference is so subtle that even my partner hasn’t noticed, but it has given me new confidence in my side profile. Thanks, Dr Motox!
