WELCOME TO THE FEBRUARY ISSUE OF AESTHETIC MEDICINE
How is it February already? 2023 is flying by! As this magazine goes to print, I am running out the door to attend IMCAS World Congress in Paris. I can’t wait to learn about the international aesthetics industry and speak to sector experts from around the world. Stay tuned, I will be sharing my experiences in the next issue of the mag. Speaking of events, it’s not long now until AM Live and the Aesthetic Medicine Awards.
Entries have just closed - did you submit yours in time? I look forward to sitting down with the amazing panel of judges we have assembled to evaluate your submissions and find out more about the great work of those at the forefront of the sector. This month’s issue, to mark Race Equality Week (6-12 February), celebrates diversity and inclusion in the aesthetic industry. I spoke to DD and Med-FX director of aesthetics and beauty Vivienne Braidwood about how she favours practising ‘conscious inclusion’ over focusing on unconscious bias (p52-54).
Our reporter, Becki Murray, investigates new device-based innovations for the treatment of different skin tones (p48-49) and consultant dermatologist Dr Rajani Nalluri talks through a new, effective, and safe treatment of melasma (p36-38). We also speak to campaigner Dawn Knight about the shocking new trend of patient roadshows that is endangering medical tourists (p14-15), visit Dr Sophie Shotter’s new Kings Hill clinic (p30- 31) and look at how employers can compassionately handle staff bereavement (p66-67). Make sure you follow our website, newsletter and social channels for regular industry news and updates. We always welcome your views and comments, so please email me at anna.d@thepbgroup.com.
