A new paradigm in healthy ageing?

So far, the approach to improving the quality of the dermis has always been focused on how to improve the proteins in the dermis with a nonspecific approach, stimulating fibroblasts in general.

In the skin, one of the effects of the loss of extracellular matrix [ECM] homeostasis is ageing. The main reasons are a reduction: – in the number and activity of fibroblasts, resulting in less collagen and elastin – in hyaluronic acid causing dehydration. Sunekos Performa focuses on the ECM to regenerate it. Performa is indicated for skin tightening and regeneration, dynamic wrinkles and solar elastosis of the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

WHAT IS SUNEKOS PERFORMA?

It contains the HY6AA formula. Performa comes in a 3.5ml pre-mixed vial composed of: – 35 mg of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (50-250kDa) – 128 mg amino acids (AAs): glycine, L-proline, L-lysine, L-leucine, L-valine and L-alanine in a specifically balanced solution adapted to the electrolyte composition of the interstitial fluids of the face, neck, hands and décolleté.

Through in vitro and in vivo studies, the precise qualitative and quantitative AA formula was identified, which, together with hyaluronic acid, can promote a physiological ratio of collagen and elastin production.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The specific AA combination is capable of: – stimulating the fibroblasts to produce these components – regenerating new young fibroblasts producing a complete mix of collagens, including collagen type IV and elastin.

Collagen type IV is found mainly at the level of the basal lamina. The basal lamina is a thin sheet at the level of the epithelial tissues. Its function is to provide cellular and tissue support, anchoring the epithelium to the underlying loose connective tissue.

Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic acid up to 200kDa (LMWHA) regulates ECM homeostasis due to the following actions: – hydrating the skin due to its capacity to retain water – synthesis of structural elements of the dermis (collagen, elastin and blood vessels) due to stimulation on fibroblasts – anti-inflaming.

Dr Mark Holmes is an aesthetic physician and global KOL for Sunekos, based in London.

CASE STUDY 1

2ml of Sunekos Performa was inserted subdermally into the perioral area using a 25g cannula, on three separate occasions, with a twoweek interval between each treatment.

Before and After

CASE STUDY 2

0.75ml of Sunekos Performa was inserted subdermally into each infraorbital area using a 25g cannula, on three separate occasions, with a twoweek interval between each treatment.

Before After

CASE STUDY 3

1.5ml of Sunekos Performa was inserted into the medium depth of the dermis of the neck area using a 30g needle, on three separate occasions, with a two-week interval between each treatment.
