High-tech facials: IS CLINICAL FIRE AND ICE WITH DEESSE PRO LIGHT THERAPY

Contributing reporter Kezia Parkins experienced the classic Fire and Ice facial with a high-tech twist at Fortnum and Mason

THE LOWDOWN

The Is Clinical Fire and Ice Facial aims to bridge the gap between a mild facial and an invasive peel by combining glycolic acid with retinol to resurface skin and encourage cellular renewal.

THE EXPERIENCE

I have already tried this facial a few years ago and loved it, but, thanks to facialist Sarah Brown’s expert hands and knowledge, she was able to make the experience even more unforgettable by adding two other technologies to enhance the results.

I was having a tough week when I went to see Brown which she picked up on immediately in our consultation without me having to say a word and despite us having never met before.

I was settled into a warming treatment bed where Brown began to cleanse my face with Is Clinical’s antioxidant rich Cleansing Complex. She warned me, as she worked down to my decolletage, that this part of the body holds a lot of emotions. As soon as she got there and started working below my neck, my eyes filled with tears.

I was genuinely amazed by her empathy and emotional insight, as well as her expert hands. She was patient and kind with me as I settled back down and before the “fire” stage. The Intensive Resurfacing Masque, which exfoliates without any peeling, was a bit tingly.

Throwing in a bespoke step, Brown put me under the Deesse Pro Light Therapy mask for 10 minutes on skin healing mode which combines red, blue, and near infrared light to help the skin heal faster. The light and warmth from this were really soothing and the time allowed me to gather myself further.

Then, it was time for the “ice” part of the treatment, where the cooling Rejuvenating Masque was applied to deliver hydration and soothe any post-peel inflammation.

The next bespoke technology Brown introduced was the Sculpta device, which combines electrical muscle stimulation and radiofrequency, for three minutes on each side of my face while the mask was still on. I was shocked by the power in this handheld device, as it really put my muscles to work without being uncomfortable. I could feel the instant lifting effect as Brown used the device to sculpt and snatch my face.

To finish the treatment, Brown layered Is Clinical’s Eye Complex, Pro-Heal, Moisturising Complex and Extreme Protect SPF 30.

THE VERDICT

It was such a privilege to experience a facial in such a beautiful setting as Fortnum and Mason with someone so skilled and talented at what they do. The Fire and Ice Facial never disappoints, but this treatment was made even more special by Brown’s touch and presence, as well as the devices she used to enhance the results. I left feeling completely renewed and hopeful, as well as glowing.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

By making this well-known facial bespoke, you can upsell add-on treatments, while also boosting results for the client… it’s a win-win!
