THE LOWDOWN

The Clinic Holland Park is the first clinic in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to offer treatments with Sofwave’s newest device. Pure Impact is the next generation of advanced energy-based electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) technology that firms up the body. Up to 16 small wireless electrodes deliver electrical pulses to targeted areas to cause muscle contractions and stimulate nerve fibres, harnessing plyopulse technology to build muscle force and burn fat in minimal time.

In a single session, the synchronised electrodes work simultaneously to stimulate multiple muscle groups and areas of the body, to deliver effective muscle strengthening and body toning without surgery, as well as short-term improvement in the appearance of cellulite.

THE EXPERIENCE

When Sofwave key opinion leader Miss Jennifer Doyle invited me in to try the brand’s latest treatment, I jumped at the chance. After taking preliminary photos and discussing my goals, Miss Doyle attached the 16 electrodes to the front of my abdomen and thighs. She increased the pulse intensity in small increments until the device was at about 60% (the upper end of the advised range) and I sat, twitching, for half an hour. Every time the strength of the pulse increased, it initially felt slightly painful, but I quickly acclimatised, and the sensation soon became tolerable, and I was keen to get the most out of the sessions. No pain, no gain, right? I couldn’t move during the treatment so, to pass the time while I twitched, I watched Hey Duggee. I was completely wiped out after the first session and had a cheeky nap in my lunch break, but my body acclimatised, and I felt less exhausted after subsequent sessions, despite progressing to the more intense plyopulse protocol.

THE VERDICT

After four sessions spread over two weeks, there was a visible difference, and my waist had lost an inch. I noticed an improvement in muscle tone, firmness and strength. I look forward to returning for my maintenance sessions and to see how the results hold up.
