Meet the experts

The Aesthetic Medicine editorial board includes some of the leading names in aesthetics. Their clinical expertise and diverse range of specialties help ensure the magazine meets the needs of its readers

DR RITA RAKUS

Known in the media as the ‘London Lip Queen’ and in recent years the ‘Machine Queen’, she is the co-founder and a fellow of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine and the only aesthetic doctor to have an inscription on the wall of honour at the Royal Society of Medicine.

DR NICK LOWE

Dr Nick Lowe is a consultant dermatologist at Cranley Clinic, London and clinical professor of Dermatology at UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has authored more than 450 clinical and research publications, 15 scientific and five educational books.

DR ULIANA GOUT

Dr Uliana Gout is the founder of London Aesthetic Medicine Clinic and LAM Academy. She is a past president of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) and sits on the Board of Trustees. She also acts as a BCAM Appraiser for the GMC. She sits on the Board of the International Peeling Society and has co-authored numerous medical textbooks.

MR TUNC TIRYAKI

Mr Tunc Tiryaki is a consultant plastic surgeon, renowned for his work in facial regeneration, where he was one of the first surgeons to use fat-derived stem cells in mini facelift procedures. He is chair of the Humanitarian Programs of ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and founder of ISAPS-LEAP Surgical Relief Teams that conduct volunteer reconstructive surgery operations all around the world.

DR STEVEN HARRIS

Dr Steven Harris has been practising aesthetic medicine at his clinic in North London since 2004 and has gained an international reputation for producing natural-looking results. His original approach and techniques include Facial Reshaping with Myomodulation and the Non-surgical Lip Lift (NLL). Dr Harris is also a trainer and educator.

DR SHIRIN LAKHANI

Dr Shirin Lakhani is a GP and aesthetic practitioner specialising in intimate health, sexual dysfunction and menopause. A lack of NHS care for women has led Dr Lakhani to offer treatments for Lichen Sclerosus, vaginal atrophy and many more intimate health issues. She is a significant voice of authority within the intimate health space, speaking widely on HRT, the menopause, incontinence and intimate health.

DR RAJ THETHI

Dr Raj Thethi graduated from Leeds University Medical School in 2013, having completed an additional BSc (Hons) first class degree in Anatomy. On completion of his surgical training in the Yorkshire Deanery he qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). He has completed a Level 7 accredited course in Aesthetic Medicine. He is also a trainer for Teoxane and founder of Yorkshire Skin Centre.

MR ALI GHANEM

Mr Ali Ghanem is a consultant aesthetic plastic surgeon and clinical senior lecturer in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as visiting professor and head of department of Aesthetic Medicine at the College of Medicine and Dentistry, Ulster University. He is qualified in Medical Law and Ethics, Surgical Science and Developmental and Stem Cell Biology.

MR STEVE COHEN

Mr Steve Cohen is an internationally recognised, board certified plastic surgeon, inventor, author, and artist. Mr Cohen offers complex deep plane and deep neck surgery as well as a unique anatomic and regenerative facial fat grafting technique. He has been described as one of the top plastic surgeons in America by Newsweek, US News and World Report, Castle Connolly and Best Doctors, Inc.

MR ARTURO ALMEIDA

Mr Arturo Almeida is an experienced consultant surgeon and internationally-renowned keynote speaker. He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Murcia, Spain and is a leading expert in the field off at dissolving injectables. He is also the founder of Baarle Academy, providing training for medical practitioners in aesthetic treatments and business consultancy for clinics and business owners. He is a full member of BCAM.

KERRY BELBA

Kerry Belba is a laser and skin practitioner and laser and IPL trainer. She was the first non-medical practitioner to obtain the nationally recognised BTEC Laser and Light award and has completed the Advanced Skin Laser Applications Award. In 2021, she was the first aesthetic laser practitioner in the UK to be voted onto the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA) as an executive board member. She is also the owner of Laser Skin Solutions in Bournemouth.
