BBL HERO

...not your mother’s IPL

The HERO technological advancements are changing how practitioners treat skin anywhere on the body

Long known in the industry for its breadth of advanced features and consistent outstanding outcomes, BBL (Broadband Light) by Sciton has taken its technology up another level. Never settling, Sciton engineers are always looking for new ways to improve upon its technology in an ongoing pursuit of perfection. HERO stands for high energy rapid output, and this technology allows for rapid treatments that are four times faster and three times the peak power, while the new Comfort Cool handpiece has two times the cooling capacity compared to the original BBL device.

Combined, these changes allow practitioners the ability to perform treatments on large areas like the back, legs and chest without the tedium, pain and side effects which are often associated with other IPL (intense pulsed light) devices. “In my opinion, BBL HERO is the single greatest advancement in IPL in the last 20 years”, says Dr Patrick Bitter, Jr, owner and founder of Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology in Los Gatos, California, US. Dr Bitter is well known in the industry as the “godfather” of the IPL fotofacial dubbed the Forever Young+ BBL Treatment. This new technology allows Dr Bitter to deliver even more energy in a single treatment to create those “wow” moments for his patients.

The ability to deliver rapid pulses allows practitioners to use a smooth motion technique – gone are the days of laborious stamping. Dr Elizabeth Tanzi, owner and founder of Capital Laser & Skin Care in Chevy Chase, Maryland, US, shares that she uses her BBL device in her practice every day and says, “BBL HERO in-motion delivers such a nice, fluid result that you can blend in and treat large areas quickly with minimal pain”. Dr Tanzi goes on to add, “I’ve had it done and I was shocked – with the traditional BBL I feel it a lot, even with numbing cream, but this I did without numbing cream. It’s a major step forward in technology and I think people are going to like it a lot.”

Available on the mJOULE and the flagship JOULE, owning a Sciton platform is now more accessible than ever. Both platforms are expandable and are custom built in the US.
